Read moreLaura Payne is Development Manager and Executive Assistant at Turning Point Recovery Center of Bennington, Vermont. She is responsible for helping secure private donations and grant funding to help expand Turning Point’s community services and reach. In her position she frequently meets with donors, stakeholders, and elected officials to advocate for recovery-related funding and legislation. Laura is a former member of the Pownal, VT Selectboard, where she helped secure New England’s first EPA grant to study new uses for a contaminated site on the agency’s Superfund list. She co-created the No Dice Coalition, which defeated an effort to bring casino gambling to the site of the Green Mountain Racetrack. Laura and her coalition were publicly recognized by Governor Howard Dean. As a lifelong resident of the greater Bennington area, Laura has firsthand knowledge of the issues that are important to her community and her state. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Vermont State University. In her spare time, she volunteers for Bennington’s monthly Recovery Community Dinners and trains for half-marathons.
